Why do the el camino?
Most do the El Camino for spiritual reasons but that isn't the case for Pat and I. We're Catholic but not practicing. To be honest, we're doing it more as an adventure. It might be a test. Really, to spend thirty days, twenty four hours with anyone can be testing. I don't think we have any concerns. The one question that is common along the El Camino is,"why are you doing this"? I hope not to be asked this to often.
Training
We'll be walking 800 kms and plan on completing it within 26 days or an average of 35 kms a day. Training is critical although we've read that many do it without any training whatsoever but pat and I can be hard core. If we decide to do something then we're going to try to our best. My biggest once run is to get in shape to keep up with Pat.
We're either running or walking everyday. Our walks are also a minimum of two and half hours. We've done between three and four hours with our packs. We always feel that we could do more so this is a good thing. It June 30th and we have six more weeks to get prepared.
